Man do I love my slow cooker! The crock pot is hands down the greatest invention in the history of man (ok maybe that’s taking it a little too far), but man oh man does slow cooking meat for 8 hours do something extraordinary to the taste.
And this root beer braised short rib sandwich recipe is not short on taste I can guarantee that. On top of slow cooking short rib for 8 hours, this sandwich is topped with beer battered onion rings bringing an awesome addition to the overall flavor.
It all starts with the short rib. Stuff those babies into your crock pot and get ready to prepare the sauce.
Root beer give such a cool flavor to short rib. I like to use a lot of it to get it infused into the meat. Be sure to choose your favorite root beer when making this recipe.
Pour the sauce over the short rib making sure to completely drown the meat in it. Cover with your crock pot lit and set to low heat for 8 hours.
Get a nice bun and pile on a nice serving of the short rib. Top with beer battered onion rings and … well I don’t really need to tell you what to do next!

I am just loving everything about this delicious sandwich.. I can only imagine how good it must have tasted. Especially loving the idea of slow cooking the ribs in root beer!
Loved this recipe! I’m not crazy about root beer usually unless it’s served over vanilla ice cream, but I was so pleased with the great flavor it gave the short ribs! I didn’t make onion rings but next time I will, and there will be a next time!!
Awesome to hear thanks!
I made your recipe for dinner last night. It was a huge success!!! My husband thought it was the best short rib dinner I have ever made. Super easy to put together as well! I served with roasted cauliflower and some amazing gluten free fried onion rings.
Thank you for a very balanced (spice was perfect with a hint of sweet) easy and oh so delicious meal for my family.
That’s great, I love hearing it. I am so happy you and your family enjoyed. The cauliflower and fried onion rings sound delicious!
Hi there!
Could I add beef stock, to balance out the sweet?
Thanks!
Is it possible to use a diet root beer may sound weird but am diabetic and was wondering. Not sure how the sweeteners would work.
